Welcome to Oloisukut Conservancy

Oloisukut group conservancy is a 23,000 acre area of community land which borders the world famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve at Mara Triangle, to the North in the Trans Mara District, Rift valley province. Oloisukut conservancy is an intriguing conservation concept on land-use owned and managed by the community members of Oloisukut.

BEE KEEPING

Beekeeping is a form of agriculture that involves management of bee colonies for production of honey and wax. In Kenya women are involved in most agricultural activities such as food production, storage, processing and marketing.

In an effort to empower women and youth and improve livelihoods, Oloisukut conservancy with the support of WWF-Kenya initiated an income generating project of Bee keeping. The project will be managed by Oloisukut women group and will entail production of honey for commercial purposes.

Oloisukut Cattle Vaccination

On August 2018, the conservancy team comprises of the conservancy able CEO, and Livestock Assistant and a group of veterinarian from Narok County embarked on a livestock vaccination exercise against East Coast Fever, targeting two hundred and forty (240) community cattle around the conservancy.

Oloisukut Wild-Life

The area boasts of high density of game including the big five except for the Rhino. Over 300 different species of birds have been identified. Some of the common animal species are; Maasai giraffe, Burschell zebra, waterbucks, elands, lions, leopards, elephants and elusive and timid bushbuck. Oloisukut boasts the highest population of elands, giraffes and leopards in the Mara per unit area.
